Rutherglen Care Home Hosts Tinsel Tea Despite Adverse Weather

14 December 2023

Despite the relentless downpour outside, Rutherglen Care Home successfully hosted a heartwarming ‘Tinsel Tea’ on December 9th, transforming the gloomy weather into a festive celebration that brought joy to residents, staff, and their families.

The care home’s Tinsel Tea, a mini fete complete with a variety of entertainment, attracted a commendable turnout. Attendees braved the inclement weather to partake in the festivities, turning the event into a lively and spirited occasion.

The mini fete featured a range of activities designed to engage and entertain. Attendees eagerly tried their luck at the bottle tombola, participated in a raffle with exciting prizes, and engaged in the fun challenge of guessing the elf’s name. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as individuals explored the various stalls, including a cake and candy stand offering delicious sweet treats, as well as a stall showcasing handcrafted tree decorations made with love by the residents themselves.

Entertainer Jim Robertson took the stage, keeping the festive cheer alive with his lively performance of beloved Christmas songs. Some attendees even got up for a little dance, adding a touch of merriment to the occasion.

Lesley Anderson, a family member attending the Tinsel Tea, shared her thoughts on the event. “It was a great afternoon with lots of hard work and effort put in. My mother really enjoyed it,” she said with a smile.

The dedication of the staff and residents of Rutherglen Care Home, combined with the support of families and friends, turned a rainy day into a memorable celebration.
