Rutherglen Care Home opened its doors on Saturday, March 30th, to host a heartwarming Daffodil Tea/Coffee morning fundraiser, all in support of Marie Curie.
Guests were greeted with the inviting aroma of freshly brewed tea and coffee, accompanied by an array of delectable treats including cakes and scones expertly baked by the home’s talented chef. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as attendees eagerly participated in activities such as the bottle tombola, guessing the number of daffodils in the jar, and indulging in sweet delights from the cake and candy stall.
The event took an unexpected turn of delight when Michael Shanks MP and Councillor Margaret Cowie made a surprise visit, taking time to share a cuppa and chat with residents and their families. Their presence added an extra layer of joy to the morning, highlighting the community’s support for such meaningful initiatives.
Reflecting on the event, family member Lesley Anderson described it as “a lovely, relaxing morning,” expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to such a worthy cause.
Activity coordinators Rachel and Maureen echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of both family and community support. “It’s good to have family support and support from our MP and Councillor,” they shared. “Everyone enjoyed the morning.”
Rutherglen Care Home’s Daffodil Tea/Coffee morning not only raised vital funds for Marie Curie but also fostered a sense of unity and camaraderie within the community, showcasing the power of coming together to support those in need.
