Rutherglen Care Home’s Heartwarming Easter Bonnet Parade Brings Joy to Residents

Rutherglen Care Home transformed into a hub of Easter excitement as residents and children from Ace Place Nursery came together for a delightful Easter Bonnet Parade.
In the morning, residents and staff put their creativity to the test, crafting their own charming Easter bonnets in anticipation of the afternoon festivities. As the sun dipped low, the children arrived, adorned with their own colourful creations, ready to join in the fun.
The parade wound its way through the halls of Waverley House, with residents and children alike beaming with delight. Along the route, heartwarming exchanges blossomed as children paused to chat with residents, sharing stories and laughter.
After the parade, the fun continued with arts and crafts activities, where the children poured their artistic talents into creating Easter pictures for the residents. These treasured artworks now adorn the unit, serving as reminders of the special bond shared between generations.
As the afternoon drew to a close, the sound of joyful singing filled the air as residents and children joined together for a sing-song, belting out tunes with an Easter theme. Among the smiles and laughter, 98-year-old resident Jane Britton expressed her joy, saying, “It’s good to see the children smiling and looking happy.”
The Easter Bonnet Parade at Rutherglen Care Home served as a heartwarming reminder of the power of intergenerational connections and the joy that comes from coming together to celebrate the spirit of the season.
