Ryland View Care Home Celebrates Cultural Day
2 October 2023

The Tipton based facility provides residential and nursing care to around 75 residents who thoroughly enjoyed the multicultural themed event. Staff members, residents and families dressed up in traditional attire, enjoyed tasting food from around the world and helped to raise cash for the care home’s ‘comfort fund’.
Resident Hazel Robinson, aged 84, (pictured) had been busy knitting children’s hats for the occasion. She said “I’m really happy with the way my hats turned out and I hope that they keep the kind people who bought them warm in the winter. It’s nice to raise money by doing something that I enjoy. It was a super day and it was great to see so many people dressed up.”

Some of the other residents made and sold their own artwork which they created with the assistance of Wellbeing Coordinator Sarah Gillies who can be seen photographed along with Maintenance Manager Nigel Wilcox in the traditional Black Country clothing of the past.

Deputy Manager Rino Jose joined Administrator Nayla Nazeem and Care Assistant Shanti Kurian in traditional attire from South Asian countries.
The event was also attended by members of the NHS ICB board, the Council and the Community Matron Team.
Care Home Manager, Amanda Leitch, said “I want to extend a huge thank-you and well done to all of the very supportive families of the residents and to everyone who came along. You all looked amazing in your cultural dress.” Amanda added “It was a real team effort and a whole lot of fun. Most importantly the residents had a great time and made some wonderful memories.”
