Residents Show Off Their Irish Jig Skills During St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations
19 March 2021
St. Patrick’s Day was a lively affair at Haydale Care Home as Residents enjoyed an Irish jig and a ‘Tipsy Afternoon Tea’.
The Activities team thought that teaching Residents a traditional Irish jig would be the perfect way to get everyone moving.
The session began with some traditional Irish music, and Residents were asked to do some straightforward toe-tapping and arm movements along to the tunes.
Some fantastic videos were made and shared with families on the Home’s Facebook page before the ‘Tipsy Afternoon Tea’ was served.
Activities Co-ordinator Isabel Cummings said that it was a fun-filled occasion.
Isabel said: “We have some Colleagues from Ireland, and they were able to give us some points on how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day properly.
“The Tipsy tea consisted of Buck’s Fizz, porter cake and Chocolate Kimberley, amongst other treats.
“We also had leprechauns, Irish hats, bunting and flags. It was a lot of fun for everyone.”
