Nancy Gets Her 100th Birthday Telegram Handed To Her By ‘The Queen’
29 November 2021
A royal visitor surprised and delighted Stonedale Lodge Resident Nancy Grierson this October as she celebrated her 100th birthday.
As is customary, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II sent a telegram to thrilled Nancy, but the twist was that it was our monarch who hand-delivered it.
Nancy couldn’t stop laughing when ‘The Queen’ showed up looking remarkably like her Spitting Image puppet as Activities Co-ordinator Brenda Carter took on the role.
Following the VIP visit, there was a right royal knees up as Nancy celebrated her milestone birthday.
Home Manager Lisa Mulcahy said that Nancy’s family were thrilled to see her having such a wonderful day.
Lisa said: “We wanted to spoil Nancy rotten – but nothing could prepare her for ‘The Queen’.
“Brenda did a great job, and Nancy’s family thought the whole thing was terrific.
‘They came for a visit with presents and cards, and we had plenty of balloons and a birthday cake for Nancy.
“Seeing her laughing and clapping to show her excitement was heartwarming for us all.”
