Weekly Fun Breaks Help Lift Spirits At Madeira House
12 June 2020
Residents and Colleagues at Madeira House have put their emotional wellbeing on the Care Home’s timetable – with two dedicated fun breaks per week.
The Activities Team wanted to find a way to bring everyone together for a moment of happiness twice weekly during the challenging pandemic restrictions.
So, on a Monday at 11.30am, all Colleagues agreed to stop what they were doing to sing and dance with each other and Residents. This created a joyful atmosphere for everyone.
On Fridays, Colleagues also agreed to take a pause at 2.30pm to join Residents for their tea and cake break.
Home Manager Claire Stainton said it had given morale a real boost.
Claire said: “This has been an incredibly challenging year, and we wanted to find a way to bring Colleagues together for a couple of moments each week.
“It’s our way of scheduling some happiness into our busy days and making sure we get the chance to connect as a team and with Residents.
“Given the none of us are very good singers or dancers, it’s ended up being a chance to have a good laugh. That’s been a real tonic to everyone at Madeira House.”
