Woodfield Grange Care Home Commemorates Sacrifices with Powerful Arts and Music Event
1 December 2024

Woodfield Grange Care Home recently hosted a moving and memorable event, paying tribute to those who have lost their lives during conflicts both past and present. The event featured a captivating performance by Emma from Music Moments, who delivered a powerful set of songs that spanned through the ages, evoking deep emotions and sparking reflection.

Resident JS shared, “I enjoyed Emma and loved the singing, it brought back memories and I loved the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae.” The musical performance, paired with a heartfelt reading of the iconic poem, helped create a poignant atmosphere for all in attendance.
In addition to the musical performance, staff and residents worked together on arts and crafts projects that added personal meaning to the occasion. These creations fostered a sense of unity, helping to connect the residents and bring a greater understanding of the sacrifices made by those who served in conflicts.

Resident KB added, “I liked it and loved the singing away to all the old songs, and also having the 2 minutes silence to remember the fallen.” The two-minute silence provided a time of quiet reflection and respect for those who gave their lives.
The event was well-received, with residents thoroughly enjoying the afternoon, which was further enriched by the attendance of family members. Resident SH said, “I really enjoyed dancing with staff and singing along, I love to sing and dance.” The day was filled with joy, laughter, and connection, making it a truly special occasion for all involved.

The home was beautifully decorated, with thoughtful tributes displayed to honor the fallen and ensure their memories were kept alive. This heartfelt event provided a meaningful way for the Woodfield Grange community to come together in remembrance and appreciation of the sacrifices that have shaped our history.
