Newcarron Beetroot Bounty Secures ‘Advinia In Bloom’ Win
26 October 2021

The team at Newcarron have beat stiff competition to take home first prize in the ‘Ground To Fork’ category at the inaugural ‘Advinia In Bloom’ awards.
Participants were asked to grow their own produce for use in their Home’s kitchens.
At Newcarron, Activities Co-ordinator Hazel Phillips took this one step further and came up with a terrific idea that rewarded their hardworking Care Colleagues.
Residents grew delicious beetroot in the garden, which they later pickled and presented as gifts for Colleagues in pretty jars.
The stunning pickled beet jars, along with a thriving herb garden, helped Newcarron catch judge Simon Morris’ eye.
Simon, Advinia’s Non-Executive Director, said: “I loved the whole concept of the Newcarron beetroot jars.
“It was an excellent way to use the produce and do something kind for their Care Colleagues.
“I was very impressed with many entries for this award, and to hear about all the wonderful, fresh fruit, veg and herbs used in Advinia Home kitchens across the UK.”
Newcarron received a £100 gardening voucher as their prize, which they will now use as part of the ongoing work.
Residents have become so passionate about growing things that they are fundraising to buy a greenhouse to cultivate produce during the winter months.
