Welcome to Rutherglen Care Home in Glasgow, where our team provides person-centred care and carefully tailored care plans for Residents, helping them live life in the way they choose.
At Rutherglen, Residents lead active, happy and fulfilled lives. We encourage everyone to join our thriving activities programme and socialise in our lovely communal areas, inside and out. There’s always plenty of opportunity to enjoy life, make new friends and create new memories.
Our friendly Home includes six spacious single-storey Houses. Each one specialising in a different type of care where dedicated teams of nurses, care and support staff support Residents’ holistic wellbeing.
Rutherglen Care Home is a popular choice for families as it is located three miles south east of Glasgow and conveniently situated for public transport as well as easy access to the M74 motorway.
CARE FOR YOU
We take great pride in ensuring that all Residents have a personalised care plan that takes into account both their care needs and lifestyle wishes. We keep care plans regularly updated, either at formal reviews whenever care needs change. We always involve families when possible and ensure that everyone is happy with the level of care provided.
We have good links with local GP practices, and Colleagues are happy to arrange appointments with other practitioners, such as occupational therapists, chiropodists and dentists.
Living life to the full
We encourage Residents to continue to do the things they love, whether it is a hobby such as painting or bowls, or simply shopping – we will do everything we can to make that possible. We also have a busy activity programme and particular favourites are the reminiscence classes, craft and gardening clubs, quizzes, movie afternoons, musical sessions and concerts.
Residents can also get a fresh look and pampering at our in-home hair salon whenever they choose. Or if they prefer a quieter afternoon, then relaxing in our beautifully landscaped gardens offers a lovely retreat from the bustle of everyday life.
Dining and nutrition
A healthy diet is crucial for wellbeing and at Rutherglen our creative team of chefs provide an extensive seasonal and varied menu. As well as encouraging Residents to make suggestions via questionnaires, our regular themed meals are hugely popular. Whether it is a Haggis on Burns’ night or hot cross buns at Easter, there is always a chance to celebrate, not to mention birthday parties when every Resident receives a delicious home-baked cake.
Our number one priority is keeping Residents safe and connected with their loved ones. We have recently created a COVID-secure, indoor visiting space to ensure that Residents can socialise with their family and friends in warmth and comfort.

What residents and families say about us
Here are some of our latest reviews from CareHome.co.uk, the leading care home review website.
The home is very welcoming for family and other visitors. The staff manage my mum's behaviour and moods with care and respect. My mum feels settled here. I like that there are activities that my family can be involved in and we feel welcome in the home. My mum's room is always clean and tidy, also a nice place for us to sit.
The information provided regarding activities and care of my gran during coronavirus isolation has been exceptional. I really appreciate and will be forever grateful for being able to share and see some of the positive experiences my gran has participated in as well as being able to see how well she is looking. The staff really have shown how much they care and what a good job they do.
The staff in Woodside unit go beyond to make sure their residents are happy, safe and well. They keep them upbeat and always have their interests at heart. They are always dancing/singing/playing games making the residents time enjoyable especially as we are not able to visit presently, seeing the Facebook posts of all the residents having fun is lovely.
